Just a note to tell you that this stuff is amazing. Being a relatively new wood stove user I fell victim to the usual mistakes. Purchasing from unreputable wood dealers selling unseasoned wood as seasoned, poor burning habits such as improper draft control and low heat smoldering fires. Thankfully I have since learned from my mistakes but not before creosoting my chimney to dangerous levels.
I have had my chimney cleaned regularly but had a thick black tar creosote buildup and glaze covering about 60%-70% of my brick, clay tile lined flu. I was quoted hundreds of dollars to have this removed, with no guarantee to flu damage or results. Financially having this done would far outweigh the savings of burning wood, so I opted out, pending further research.
I timidly used the stove periodically on the colder days keeping my fingers crossed that I would not have a flu fire. I tried other brands of flu cleaners with little or no results.
While searching the Internet last spring I came across your product, and it's great reviews on wood burning websites, so I immediately rushed out to buy some. Being springtime, I never really got to use it much as the wood burning season was coming to a close.
I have burned approximately a dozen or so fires this fall and have used your product every time and I am simply astonished at the results.
Three times now I have went to the clean-out in my basement and removed about 6 cups of black tar creosote each time. It is falling off the chimney in big clumps. I inspected my chimney today and it is now 90% clear right down to the red clay liner. I am SO PLEASED, to say the least. I shall have a bottle of Kathite sitting by my stove from now on. I have even recommended it to a few friends who have also purchased it after I proudly showed off my bucket of tar creosote and told them my story.
Kudos to you for this product, and keeping it at a reasonable price. Every wood stove owner should know about this great product.
